"You’re out of your depth"

Dunno why a lot of people are abusive on the phones, but this guy was abusive because he’s a miserable old fuck who thinks he has all the right in the world to be an asshole.

Inbound call, so do the whole intro. I talk low, and can speak fast. Most people say “hey, can you repeat that a bit louder and slower”. No problems at all. This guy decided that yelling was the solution. He yells that I talk to low, and need to slow down. Also I apparently sound like the person who hung up on him. As the call went on, I figured out why they hung up his ass.

So he tells me the problem before I can see the acct, which is ever so fucking helpful, and then I pull the account. Amt due of blah blah blah, yadda yadda and wants to know why. He sent in a payment, which is lovely and all, but it has to cover the amt due. He paid about a third. Apparently he thought it was okay because he left a note explaining he hadn’t received the item he ordered. But also said they came in. Wtf dude, okay, so you didn’t pay the full bill, you’re confused why it’s higher than normal? Okay buddy. I politely explain “well sir, a note with the check isn’t an official dispute. He laughs and says “I don’t care about the dispute process”. Neat. Thats not my issue.

During this, when I tried to speak, he would cut in, and then act like I interrupted him. Thanks asshole, real classy. He made this a habit.

So I start going over the bill. He interrupts me, again, again acting like he had the floor. I trip up, and he jumps on it. “You’re clearly out of your depth”. No, I’m not. You’re just a prick. Your issue isn’t even complex, you’re just a fucking idiot. You didn’t pay your full bill, you were assessed a late fee, rightfully at that, and then you had another charge. But yeah, I’m out of my depth. Oookay.

At this point I’m fed up. I’m not smiling while I speak, and I’m just trying to get it over with. After the 6th time of him pulling the whole “nyuh you were speaking but clearly you’re interrupting me” bullshit I tell him “sir, I am trying to help you. I want to find the solution and get this taken care of”. Not in the politest tone, so he decides to get even more ornery. “I hope these calls are recorded so they can see your ability” “yes sir, they do record my line, so they will hear this”.

Cue guffaw, and “this is so fuckin stupid” I begin to start speaking and he says “and now you’re going to talk about my swearing and hang up on me”. “No sir, I don’t care about your swearing, and I won’t hang up I want to help you solve this”. And that’s why you got hung up on. You were abusing someone, and they didn’t have to take it, so they fuckin didn’t. Only reason I’m not showing you the door either is because you’re clearly angry that you’re stupid and no one else needs to deal with that.

So we go over everything, I waive the late fee “because of his long business relationship with [Bank] and his great payment history”. We get the new balance, and he says he’ll send in a check. Lovely, can you fuck off already?

Then it’s his time to complain about the bill. “It’s not itemized”. Bull. Fucking. Shit. I was literally looking at another person’s statement right before this call. I know our bills are itemized. But no no, they can’t be because he said so. Aight dude, I don’t get paid enough to walk you through your paper bill if you can’t bother reading it all. “Oh but you don’t care” “I will pass your complaint up the chain”.

He scoffs, and I mean, fair, I’m not telling my boss that the customer thinks the bills aren’t itemized when they are. He mutters some other shit, I tell him to have a nice day and he hangs up.

I had a rough weekend. I’m tired. I do not give a single fuck about how you treat me because I definitely abused myself worse over the weekend. I just want to figure this out so you can go away. I even said “sir, I’m trying to help. I don’t know why you’re being so combative”. No answer. Just more nastiness about me being incompetent. Like, fuck off dude. I leave a wake of feel good calls in my path, just because you’re a miserable old fuck who fucks himself and gets mad at everyone else doesn’t mean I’m going to stoop to your level so you can have the satisfaction of making someone else’s life harder.

Now if you’ll excuse me, my eyes rolled under my couch during the call and I need to recover them.
