Murder on the creek.

Only 2nd post on this sub and on mobile again. As I mentioned in my last story, I work in billing for an auto insurance company. This is not a funny story.

TW: MURDER, VIOLENCE.

I get a call yesterday from a distraught man. He picks up and I can tell at the beginning he is sobbing quietly. I adjust my mentality from peppy can do service to compassionate carer.

“Sir, I have your policy here. What can I help you with?”

He goes on to tell me in vivid detail how his wife was murdered in their home, her body was wrapped up, stuffed in the trunk of the car, driven around for a couple of hours, tied to cinder blocks, and dumped into a creek.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I understood that what we needed to do was to “total” the car because it was now in police impound for an active murder investigation. My heart sank when I had to transfer him to claims to start the process for him.

Of course being in insurance, I’ve heard every excuse and lie people can come up with, but I found the news articles later and my heart broke all over again. I had never wished a policy holder to be lying so bad before.
