Is it normal for supervisors to dodge escalated calls?

This is my first call center job so I wanted to hear others perspective/ experience on this.

I absolutely hattteee getting escalated calls because my supervisors treat me like an idiot/ visibly seem annoyed at me when I have someone who “wants to speak with the manager ” they try everything to get out of it. They mention “well have you tried saying this” or “try saying this”.

It’s annoying because usually when someone wants to speak with the manager there is nothing you can do or say. Also, with the managers being so unhelpful about the whole situation, it makes me on edge on calls for fear of pissing anyone off…
