Taking a Minute to Acknowledge Background Saviors

Here’s what I mean by this…

You’re on a call, right? You’re doing your necessary research, giving the right information, being as professional as possible. Like a true golden star. Despite all of this, Becky/Karen/Kyle/Chad isn’t being their best selves that day and act out their natural instinct of making you bend over backwards to break policy.

You’re doing your best to stand firm and not take their trash, but Becky/Karen/Kyle/Chad isn’t letting up AT ALL. Then you hear a faint voice in the background of the other line, “Why are you being like this?”, “You’re going to have an appointment either way you look at it?”, “Why are you asking for something to arrive on Sunday when Sunday is not a business day?” You notice Becky/Karen/Kyle/Chad stop going super saiyan and accept your assistance all while avoiding an unnecessary escalation.

That is what I like to call a background savior – that little voice of reason that helps provide real time common sense to the offender. Perhaps they work in a call center as well so they understand the struggle. Maybe they use the same company and had a similar situation happen to them. Or they’re just overall good, emotionally mature people who know how to channel their frustration without insulting those that are just trying to help.

To all the background saviors in the world, you have no idea of how your intervention makes the difference in our typical day. Thank you for being a sparkle of hope for humanity by showing there are some decent people still out there. We appreciate you, cheers!
