Over promising is always bad!

I work in a lending department for a small financial institution. As you might imagine, American FI’s are swamped with Small Business Administration loans right now.

Today our call center got a call from a guy who was pretty hot under the collar. I didn’t take the call, but a colleague and friend of mine did and reached out to me as the information resource to help the caller.

The notes on the account from his last call only say “Called to check on status of PPP loan, [lender name] looking for app.”

But the caller insists he was told it was found and he was “top of the pile”

Guys I have no app for his dude. If he turned one in it’s on paper and hasn’t been processed, and we moved all apps to online portal 2 weeks ago.

The last call center worker freaking lied to him, ya’ll. My buddy taking the call today is PISSED he’s getting reamed by a caller that was promised he was next in line when that rep had NO IDEA if the app was even in the system!

The rep in question has a history of doing this. Our call center is only about 10 people, so we all know about it.

Don’t promise bullshit friends. Don’t do it.
