"It’s your fault I can’t keep track of my emails!"

Me: Thanks for calling [Company], how can I help today?

Dingus: Yeah I’ve been waiting for weeks now for you guys to send me the copy of [file] that I requested and I haven’t heard anything back. This is ridiculous that I have to keep going back and forth with you folks on this, can you check on that?

Me: Sure, I can check on the status for you. Would you mind letting me know what date and time you called in so I can check my logs?

Dingus: *gives date and time*

I found the call and the ticket associated with it. He had called last week, asked for the file, and my coworker had sent it off to him the next morning (she had to get approval to send it over). No response for a few days, then he sent another email to my coworker asking about the status. She replied saying she sent it (with a copy of the email she sent), and also re-attached the file.

Dingus demanded timestamps of every reply sent by my coworker, so I gladly gave those to him. Surprise, surprise, he was able to find the file he needed and all of our replies in his inbox.

Dingus: Ok, looks like it’s here. But we shouldn’t have been waiting so long to get this to begin with.

Me: As I said, she sent both replies directly to the email you gave over the phone. All I can do is go by the history showing on my end.

Dingus: But it was sent from a different email! (no it wasn’t)

Me: Okay, do you have the file you were looking for?

Dingus: I have it now, but we needed it last week!

Me: Um. Well, I apologize that you didn’t initially see the responses- (not really but I was at a loss as to what the fuck to say to that)

Dingus: Yeah yeah yeah whatever. [click]

I think someone needs his binky and a nap.
