I work for an insurance company filing claims for car accidents. (Wouldn’t wish this job on my worst enemy.) So this lady calls in and asks if she needs a police report for her accident….which was very minor.
Me: “No, it’s not required. A police report is optional.”
Customer: “What does that mean?”
Then there’s like 8 seconds of dead silence because in my mind I’m thinking…..really?
Me: “Meaning you have the option to file a police report but you also have to option not to.”
Customer: “This is nothing like the commercial, you’re really not helping.”
Me: “I’m sorry ma’am. It probably seems that way because you want me to tell you what to do. Unfortunately I have to follow guidelines and can only give you your options.”
Customer: “Let me speak to your superv-“
